Ignite Drive

Ignite Drive is a community drive training programme focused on providing driver training hours for learner drivers prior to sitting restricted and full licenses. The Programme is lead by Community Mentors under the supervision of an I endorsed driving instructor. In 2023, our programme had 62 participants, with over 700 hours of training.

One of the most exciting and core aspects of becoming an independent member of society is… Getting your License! For some this could be a skill that ends up waiting till later. The Maca Sports Leadership Charitable Trust currently operates IGNITE Youth Employment Services, which aims to support unemployed youth to attain employment or higher education. Part of this work is helping the young people of our community gain their driver license. Being without a license can result in potential long term welfare dependency, lack of independence and confidence, unemployment or restrictions around employment, driving related offenses and the development of antisocial behavior or mental health issues.

Maca Sports Leadership Charitable Trust (MSLCT) has begun IGNITE DRIVE as a Driver Mentorship Programme with the purpose to help those facing economic challenges or limited advantages gain empowerment, confidence, independence and more! We’re dedicated to providing support, resources and financial assistance to help inspire these individuals to take control of the wheel & steer their lives in the right direction with their driver license. 

IGNITE DRIVE strives to make an impact on our community. In the last year we had a great success rate with many of our 96 participants passing one form of license test with a total of 912 driving lesson hours clocked! IGNITE’s purpose is to “educate and train people, particularly youth and unemployed, about options for personal development, leadership, employment and career development” so through adding a driving course we are tapping into an additional obstacle many have now overcome thanks to us! This means we have given these participants the ability to now go out into society knowing they will have the opportunity to get a job, hold a job and have a strong and confident mentality to take on the world.
